Angioplasty is a procedure used to open blocked or narrowed arteries in the heart. A small balloon is inserted through a catheter and inflated to widen the artery, improving blood flow, and often, a stent is placed to keep the artery open.
Heart ablation is a procedure that targets and destroys abnormal tissue in the heart that causes irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias). A catheter is inserted into the heart, and radiofrequency energy is used to correct the irregular electrical signals.
A pacemaker implant is a small device placed under the skin near the heart to help regulate its rhythm. It sends electrical signals to the heart to ensure it beats at a normal pace, especially for patients with a slow or irregular heartbeat.
An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) is a device placed under the skin that monitors heart rhythms and delivers an electric shock if a dangerously fast or irregular heartbeat is detected. It helps prevent sudden cardiac arrest in high-risk patients.
